Street art in the 13th<\/sup> arrondissement of Paris: the story behind the audacious project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If in popular\nbelief, street art is often synonymous with tags and nonconformism,\nthe “Street art 13” project is nothing of the sort! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea to turn the area into an exuberant and colourful open-air museum springs from the collaboration between a Parisian art gallery called La Gallerie Itinerrance, and the city hall of the 13th <\/sup>arrondissement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, two other galleries have joined the “Street Art 13” project: the Mathgoth Gallery and the By Night Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea behind this\nstreet art tour in the 13th<\/sup>arrondissement? Introducing the public to new forms\nof art, and promoting the area, which (unfairly) suffers from\na somewhat negative image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pretty much everybody who’s anybody in the world of street art was invited to participate in the project <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With 22 artists coming from\nall around the globe, the casting is indeed quite impressive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, ten years after the\nstart of the project, the arrondissement counted over fifty gigantic murals\nwhich were designed by some of the most famous street artists in the\nworld. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berlin is one of the most cosmopolitan cities\nwith artists coming from Chile x<\/sup>\n(Alapinta, Inti), Spain (BTOY, David de la Mano), Ireland (Conor\nHarrington), the US (Cryptik, Faile, OBEY, Tristan Eaton), the UK\n(D*Face), Brazil (Ethos), Germany (Jana & Js), Poland (M-City, Sainer),\nPortugal (Pant\u00f3nio, Vhils) and Belgium (Roa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

French artists are also\nfairly well represented, with pieces designed by Bom.K, C215, Rero, Invader,\nMaye, Seth or Stew. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
